The gentlest way to step into the wonderland.

Discovery Cove is purpose-built for first-timers and toddlers. Soft, low-saturation light shifts across hundreds of clear acrylic bubbles, while padded shores keep the loudest playground sounds at bay. Most children settle here before exploring anywhere else.

what's inside

A quiet pool of light.

Step down two padded stairs and you’re ankle-deep in spheres — hundreds of them, each the size of a small grapefruit, each glowing from within. The colours drift slowly: a wash of teal becomes a wash of rose becomes a wash of lavender. Nothing strobes, nothing flashes. It feels like wading into a calm sea.

Around the cove you’ll find the foam shoreline — soft sculpted blocks shaped like little waves, perfect for sitting, climbing or arranging in a small circle. We tucked a couple of weighted starfish in among them for the children who want something to hold.

Above it all, a slow-drifting projection casts gentle pastel patterns onto the ceiling — like watching clouds move on a fair day. Most children come for the bubbles, then stay for the sky.

a little advice

Tips from parents who’ve been.

one

Start your visit here.

Discovery Cove is the gentlest landing pad — soft light, soft sound, low stimulation. Toddlers especially need ten minutes here to settle before the louder zones.

two

Climb in with them.

The padded perimeter is designed for adult seating. Sitting inside the cove instead of watching from outside is what unlocks the shyest children — they’ll let go of you within minutes.

three

Bring socks.

Shoes off, socks on — same as the rest of the playground. Non-slip socks are sold at reception for RM 8 if you forget.

For when the calm wins. Bring a book, a coffee and sightlines to the cove — this is where parents settle while toddlers wind down.

Wade in. The water is fine.

(There’s no actual water.) Every UFOREA ticket includes the cove — same-day re-entry on a wristband, in case nap time wins.

gentle answers

Discovery Cove questions.

Is the Discovery Cove bubble pool wet?
No — the cove is entirely dry. The ‘bubbles’ are translucent acrylic spheres filled with shifting LED light. Children climb in and roll about without a single drop of water in sight, so you don’t need a change of clothes.
What ages does Discovery Cove suit best?
It’s the most welcoming zone for ages 1–5 — toddlers love the glow and the gentle textures. Older children pass through for the photos. Babies in arms are welcome with a parent in the pit.
Can parents go into the cove with their child?
Yes. Parents are encouraged to climb in — there is a low padded perimeter and several flat zones designed for adult seating. Most parents stay close for the first ten minutes, then watch from the bench.
How are the bubble spheres cleaned?
Every sphere is wiped on the 2-hour rolling sanitization round, with a full deep clean each night after closing. The LED interiors are sealed so there is nothing inside to harbour anything.
Will it be too overwhelming for a sensory-sensitive child?
The cove uses slow, low-saturation colour shifts rather than strobing. Many parents tell us this is their child’s favourite zone precisely because it’s the quietest. During Quiet Toddler Hour (Mon–Thu 10–12) the lighting is dimmed further on request.
