the story

A morning at the egg-painting atelier.

Once a year — for four April weekends — the corner of UFOREA's Mini Town that usually hosts the pretend-café transforms into a small painting atelier. Long wooden tables. Tiny aprons. A row of pastel paint pots, glitter shakers, gold leaf, and three blank wooden eggs per child waiting to be turned into something memorable.

There's no rush at the workshop. Children settle in, pick their first egg, and our host walks them through the basics — base colour, drying time, the magic of glitter applied while paint is still wet. After that, the table runs itself. Older siblings help younger ones. Parents sit alongside or step away for a coffee — the atelier is fully supervised so a 4-year-old can paint independently for half an hour without a hovering grown-up.

The session ends with a small sugar-egg treat, a take-home photo of your child holding their finished work, and a kraft-paper bag to carry the eggs back to the car without smudging the paint. Most families finish the full three eggs in 45 minutes. Some return for a second session in the afternoon to make more — the workshop is repeatable on the same ticket.

What it costs: nothing extra. The Easter painting workshop is included with every standard UFOREA ticket throughout April weekends. The atelier seats sixteen children per session, so we recommend arriving at the start of either the 10am or 2pm slot to secure a spot at the table. Walk-ins are welcome if seats remain.

What to wear: something washable. We provide aprons but glitter has a way of escaping them. We also recommend bringing a plastic bag for the wet finished eggs if you've parked outside the immediate building.

A small word on age range: the workshop suits ages 3 through 10 best. Toddlers under 3 can paint alongside a parent and we'll provide a chunkier brush. Older kids (8 to 10) tend to attempt more ambitious designs — they're welcome to free-hand patterns, mix custom colours, or try our small set of pre-cut paper-craft accents.
